Why try and ‘fix’ what’s not broken? You are you, and that’s enough: this year and every year to come. This is why we’re encouraging your New Year’s resolution to be about loving yourself just as you are because that’s what you deserve in 2025.

Don’t worry; we’re not discouraging your personal growth goals because we understand how important it is to have something to work towards. However, there comes a certain pressure with New Year to suddenly start changing yourself. Including the unhealthy pressures to change your body. But we’re not about that.

Entering a new year does not mean you have to change yourself or your body. It is simply a time to reflect. So, we want to switch up the narrative. New year… SAME you. Because you are already doing amazing with the resources you have. So, why change things?

Instead of giving into the intimidation that comes from the media or social media, around getting the ‘perfect’ body and ‘flawless’ routine, it’s time to start understanding that you already have the ‘perfect’ body. Your body is there to look after you, to be a vessel for you to enjoy the world around you.

You are not there to conform to unrealistic body standards, and that’s true whether it’s 1st January or the middle of the year. This mantra applies to any time of year: you are you, and that’s enough!

It's less ‘new year, new me’, and more ‘new year, same me’. We’ve got some more productive and healthy New Year’s resolutions ideas for you to re-focus on. Rather than getting swept up in the pressure of unrealistic societal standards.

1. Commit Time to the Things You Love

If we’re all truly honest with ourselves, we never commit enough time to focus on the things we love most. Including our hobbies. As adults, it’s difficult to keep up with activities that make us happy. So, this year, why not make a conscious effort to set aside time to do what you love? Whether that’s reading, walking, crafting, sports, theatre, or otherwise. Save a couple of hours a week and prioritise yourself. A new year doesn’t have to mean a ‘new you’ but it can mean you return to the ‘real you’.

2. Allow Yourself Guilt-Free Treats

The other thing we are all guilty of is putting unnecessary guilt on ourselves… ironically. So, make 2025 the year you go easy on yourself. Allow yourself the chance to properly enjoy treats, rather than beating yourself up over them. And that could be any kind of treat, including food, clothes, coffee, or even a lie in now and again. Whatever it is that you like to treat yourself to, this is your year to embrace it. If you are worried about getting too relaxed with yourself, why not set a budget each month or set aside time each week to enjoy those moments of treating yourself?

3. Try out Rejection Therapy

2025 is the year to learn that nobody cares about what you’re doing more than you do. And we don’t mean this in a harsh way. Often, we find that we hold ourselves back because of fear of what others think. But, realistically, no one will likely notice. If you want to try something new, go for it. If you’re still apprehensive, look into ‘rejection therapy’ and you’ll find some great ways to start ‘caring less’. It’s time to free yourself from embarrassment and just enjoy being wholeheartedly YOU.
