When talking about sustainable style, we’re referring to fashion that has a minimal impact on the environment. It’s about clothing that’s created in a sustainable way, not fast fashion that ends up in a landfill. One core value of Lovall is sustainability, and although we don’t claim to be perfect, we are forever striving towards bringing more sustainable fashion to our customers in a way that’s accessible.
Let’s break down what we are getting right in the world of sustainability, at the moment.
Lovall X Sustainability
What makes a clothing brand truly sustainable?
Fashion, unfortunately, can never be entirely non-impactful on the environment. Whether it’s the creation of the clothes, the shipment, or the lifetime of each piece, there is always something.
But what we can do to reduce it, we should do. And that’s our thinking at Lovall.

We have three key areas that we make a part of our mission to be more sustainable, and these are: To produce more eco-conscious products, to use sea freight over air freight, and to create products that last. We are in the business of giving real women wardrobes that have a long life. Not clothes that will need replacing in a few weeks or even a few months.
Perfection isn’t always achievable, but we value putting in the effort to be better, wherever and whenever we can. It’s about the small steps to help with a big change.
Your Sustainable Look
Why is sustainable fashion important for everyday wear?
Transforming your wardrobe overnight is not what we’re recommending. Instead, you might want to take a more informed decision next time you shop for clothes. And we get it, sometimes it’s achievable, sometimes it’s harder. Making the effort is what counts. But why is sustainable fashion important for everyday wear?
Well, take a look at the small changes that you make elsewhere in your life. You likely recycle when you can, you’re likely not someone who litters, and you likely will enjoy the green spaces around your local area. All these things mean that the environment, somewhat, matters to you. And introducing sustainable clothes into your everyday wardrobe is just one more way you can look after the world around you.

Around 90% of your wardrobe is made up of the clothes you wear daily. Your basics and staple looks. Ensuring that you buy from brands that are eco-conscious, for these items means you can be making a small dent in your carbon footprint. We understand that the super eco brands are a little unachievable for the everyday person, because they can come with a high price tag. But swapping out your fast fashion brands for brands that are going to give you long-lasting pieces is a great way to introduce environmental thinking into your shopping.
Staying Ethical
How can I tell if clothes are ethically made?
Environmental and ethical issues come hand in hand, in a lot of ways. So, how can you tell if clothes are ethically made? The brands you buy from should have ethical statements on their sites, letting you know what efforts they have in place to be ethical. As a rule, super-fast fashion brands are likely the ones that let ethics slip. If you can buy incredibly cheap items, you have to wonder… how? And that may bring up a number of ethical questions about how the items were made and sourced.

Generally, there are some instant tell-tale signs for more ethically minded brands. Quality over quantity is a big one. Brands that have 100,000 different products for 100,000 different purposes are likely not being too picky about the production and development of those items. Cheap quality is also one that highlights that a brand is likely neglectful of the production. It shows they don’t care about their products, and therefore, they are unlikely to care how they were made.
Seeing brands moving towards eco-fashion is a good sign, however. If you can spot items that are crafted from recycled materials or organically sourced, this indicates that the brand cares about the product and its production. You can also figure out the good from the bad by digging a little deeper into brand values and determining if they align with your own.
Make it Affordable
What affordable, sustainable fashion brands should I know about?
The real thing to think about now is how you go about incorporating sustainability into your clothes shopping. So, you might well be wondering what affordable, sustainable fashion brands are out there. Well, we have some top ones to tell you about.

Us, of course. Lovall is making moves to be more and more sustainable, all whilst bringing you incredible quality, in incredible size ranges. Our clothes are long-lasting, so despite not being a tenner per leggings, our leggings will outlive those brands 100 times over. So, a great fit, feel, and unbeatable durability mean you’ll be saving money in the long term. Discover our collections of eco-conscious clothing too, with many of our products using recycled materials, fibre and organic content fabrics. So, straight away, you can be sure that these clothes are striving for sustainability.
We’re not the only ones out there, though, and we won’t gatekeep some of our favourites.
Veja is a shoe brand that pushes for ethical and sustainable production, without compromising on style. Their big thing is trainers, and notoriously, trainers these days are getting expensive. The good thing about Veja is that, although not the cheapest option, they remain competitive in price with other big brands without compromising on the sustainable aspect. On their website, they say they’re all for ‘mixing social projects, economic justice, and ecological materials’, highlighting their goals to bring more than just amazing products to the market. Again, similarly to us, they also reinforce quality over cheapness, meaning their shoes are designed to last, giving you more for your money.
For your bikini and costumes, a brand we love is Monday Swimwear. They work with an initiative system to give back to charities and initiatives to help with social and environmental issues. Including working with a Bahamas Reef Charity to look after the oceans, donating profits to Panthera, a conservation charity for wild and endangered cats, and having a tree planting system related to exclusive ranges, where every item sold means a tree is planted. They also contribute to other wildlife, ocean and environmental conservation programs, all to combat the impact their business has.
Another brand that has an environmental focus, that, like us, is striving to solve problems in women’s fashion, is Wuka. Wuka are a women’s period solution brand, with period pants and period clothing, to offer women comfortable, wearable solutions for their menstrual cycle. The whole idea of period underwear reduces the need for disposable period products, which directly helps the environment. However, Wuka doesn’t stop there. Their mission with sustainability includes using plant-friendly materials, cruelty-free production, no added chemicals, plastic-free packaging, and minimal dye usage. All of which contribute to their eco values.
