Leggings are one of the most common staples in a woman’s wardrobe. But when you’re trying to find your perfect pair there are options which you might not even know about. Including 7/8 leggings, otherwise known as ankle grazer leggings.
You’ve probably seen the term 7/8 leggings thrown about before, but do you know what it means? We don’t blame you if you don’t, it’s not something widely talked about. However, knowing what you’re buying before you buy is never a bad thing. So, we’re here to explain to you exactly what 7/8 leggings are.
The Ankle Grazer
The term ‘ankle grazer’ used to often be thrown around as an insult for having trousers that weren’t the right length for you. Well, we know about length here at LOVALL because we make sure we provide length options to suit all women. But, when it comes to ankle grazer leggings, it is done with purpose!
7/8 leggings intentionally stop a little short, just above the ankle. And it’s massively on trend. It gives that slight separation between the edge of your leggings and your socks, showing off just a slither of skin.
But why are they called 7/8 leggings? The idea is that the name takes after the length itself. So, whilst a full length legging would be considered 8/8, the ankle grazer leggings are slightly shorter, so only reach 7/8. Essentially, it’s a fraction. We’re not maths people here at LOVALL, but occasionally it comes in handy. And for these leggings, it perfectly describes what they are – 7 out of 8 in length.
It’s popular at the minute, as it gives that intentional finish to your look, elevating the outfit. Whilst you can go full-length, which works perfectly with a crew sock look, a 7/8 legging is best suited with an ankle sock to keep that skin on show.
7/8 Gym Leggings
The 7/8 look is most popular for a sporty look. You’ll often see girls rocking 7/8 gym leggings when you head to your next workout class or gym session. Next time you go into the gym, look around and see just how popular they are.
For athletic fits, the shorter length is so popular because it defines every part of your outfit. Separating your trainers from your leggings, and then your leggings are separated from your sports bra / top. Therefore, from head to toe, you are looking the part. It also because most popular in these summer months. Not taking away any coverage but giving you that nod to summer vibes and a touch more ventilation to your look.
